DONALD
TOPP
ABOUT
DONALD TOPP is a silkscreen artist from Madison, Wisconsin. He takes a playful yet critical view of our pop culture by exposing the underlying messages that our entertainment pushes on the population.
"I play off the nostalgia of a recongnizable image or toy, but make it in an avatar of a much deeper cynical message of society."
TOPP graduated with a BS from Carroll University and a Masters in Visual Studies from Cardinal Stritch University.
METHODS
TOPP uses mixed media with screen printing in overlapping layers on paper and board. In his work, he deconstructs toys, cartoons and iconic figures from childhood and adult pop culture. All images are hand pulled with mixed media application in each print. Small editions 10x20, 18x24, or 16x20 working size.
